Lionel borrowed binoculars from a man next to him and focused on the guillotine. It looked small in comparison to the video monitors and banners saluting the Global Community.

He returned the binoculars and turned away, not sure when Judd might return or if he would return. “God, I don’t know what we’re going to do,” he prayed silently, “but I ask you to provide some kind of way out of here. And help Judd find Westin before Z-Van uses him for evil.”

Lionel walked across another landscaped area and reached a street with people milling about. He noticed a man parked by the roadside reading something. Each cab that passed already had a passenger. Though the print was in French, Lionel recognized the masthead as Buck Williams’s The Truth. He had heard of people printing the paper and sending it through co-op sources all around the world.

Lionel moved to get a better look. The man looked up and Lionel gasped. The mark of the believer!

Lionel raised his cap, and the man opened his door and stuck out his hand. “It is good to see you, my brother.”

“My friends and I are in a tight spot because of this concert,” Lionel said.

“How can I help?” the man said.

“We need a ride, but we might be putting your life in danger.”

The man smiled. “If my brother in Christ is in trouble, I will help him. I just need to find my son before we leave.”
